The generator under a vehicle, truck, or truck bed will generate the electric energy required by the vehicle systems both at the parking state and moving state. The energy of the fan that cools down the radiator mounted separately from the diesel engine crankshaft is supplied from the vehicle battery or generator. Supplying this energy from the battery will cause the battery to be recharged more frequently. Therefore, using an under-vehicle generator will ensure both a comfortable and long product life cycle. Under vehicle generators with water, cooling is commonly preferred due to their advantages.

Water Cooling Generator

The water-cooling generator that uses water in the cooling system distributes the heat with fan and cooling liquid to ensure normal operating temperature for the engine. The water-cooling system consists of a radiator, fan, water pump, water pipe, water cup and thermostat. The coolant of this system is inside the water cup. The temperature is absorbed and decreased when there is too much heat. The radiator and fan are cooled down with airflow against the wind. Then, the cooling liquid is pumped into the water cup for cyclical cooling operation.

There are two ways to cycle the cooling liquid:

  • The thermostat will turn off when the engine fluid temperature is below 70 °C. The liquid will flow from the pump, water cup, heater pipe and pump. This is the small cycle. It is suitable for fast operation.
  • After the engine starts, the thermostat will turn on automatically when the engine temperature is above 70 °C. The cooling liquid will flow from the pump, water cup, temperature control valve, water pump and radiator. This is a large cycle and the cooling effect is increased.

The cooling liquid is soft water to decrease the calcification on the water cup and radiator inner walls which change the heat-dissipating effect. Anti-freeze should be used in cold regions to prevent the generator to freeze.

Generally, there are fixed additional cups (expansion boxes) in water cooling generator systems. When the coolant heats or expands to start vapour formation, the steam valve on the radiator cover stores the water and steam overflowing from the radiator during cooling. The water can be added to the radiator with the help of an exhaust valve when the liquid is cooled down. The cylinder cooling liquid of the water-cooling generator engine is poured with dry cylinder equipment or a wet cylinder cooling liquid channel is created with cylinder equipment. The piston works on the cylinder equipment and transfers the heat to the cooling liquid inside the water channel by using cylinder equipment to cool down. This method is common in four-cycle engines.

Water Cooling Generator Properties

  • The water-cooling generator system has a complex structure, the manufacturing is challenging and has numerous requirements for the environment. The boiling point will be decreased when used on the field. The generator will freeze easily in mountainous regions if the generator turns off. When necessary, additives are added at a certain rate to improve freezing or boiling temperature.
  • The water cooling has the ideal effect. Various generators with the same technical parameters will work with small structures, high energy density, light and good heat transfer performance.
  • There are common types of water cooling generators. These are commonly used in agriculture machines, automotive industry, sea (water) machines, construction machines, electric energy industry, industrial systems, factory facilities and similar areas.
